According to the special staff of the chairperson of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) steering committee, Antonius Benny Susetyo, this year's flag-raising troop comprises 76 male and female senior high school students representing Indonesia's 38 provinces.
He encouraged the cadets to optimize the training, which is a requisite for their induction as Paskibraka members before participating in the flag-raising and flag-lowering ceremonies on Independence Day.
Susetyo also expected the cadets to adhere to the national ideology of Pancasila and play their roles as the nation's future leaders who strive to develop Indonesia in a better direction.
Meanwhile, BPIP Deputy Head Rima Agristina said that the intensive training began on Friday (July 12) and take place until August 10, 2024. They will afterward depart for Nusantara City.
She noted that the cadets will undergo the training through active learning, coaching, and mentoring sessions. They will also receive lessons on Pancasila implementation, including respect for the nation's diversity and the constitution.
In a break from tradition, the government has decided to hold the Independence Day ceremony in both Nusantara City and the current national capital, Jakarta, this year.
President Joko Widodo, accompanied by President-elect Prabowo Subianto, will preside over the ceremony in Nusantara. Vice President Ma'ruf Amin will chair the ceremony in Jakarta with Vice-President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Meanwhile, the head of the Nusantara City Infrastructure Development Planning Task Force, Imam Santoso Ernawi, said the city's ceremonial ground development had reached 82.73 percent by July 11 and will be functional on Independence Day.
"The ceremonial ground can accommodate up to 8,000 people. However, the guests' list will be determined by the State Secretariat Ministry," he added.
