We aim to strengthen regulations and provide incentives to develop the domestic automotive industry…Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has said that the government is committed to expediting the creation of the electric vehicle (EV) industry ecosystem by developing battery manufacturing for EVs.
"We aim to strengthen regulations and provide incentives to develop the domestic automotive industry and accelerate the development of the EV industry ecosystem through the development of battery manufacturing for electric vehicles," he informed on Thursday.
He conveyed this while delivering the opening speech at the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), Tangerang district, Banten, Thursday.
He stated that his administration has remained committed to realizing an independent, resilient, and sustainable national automotive industry, including by accelerating the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem.
"Indonesia has also established itself as an export hub for motorized vehicles, both oil-fueled vehicles and electric vehicles by 2030," he pointed out.
Therefore, the Vice President asked automotive industry players to expand cooperation and collaboration between business players in the research and development of the ecosystem of vehicles fueled by renewable energy.
"This development can reduce carbon emissions and play a significant role in supporting a greener and more sustainable economic transformation," Amin pointed out.
He also asked automotive industry players to improve the quality and quantity of human resources (HR) so they can make products that meet international standards.
This would need to be followed by stimulating innovation by studying, observing the prospects for innovation development, and making modifications while considering the capacity and capabilities of local content in Indonesia, he said.
"Being adaptive and responsive to rapid technological changes will increase competitiveness for Indonesian automotive products to be more competitive in an increasingly dynamic global market," he added.
The Vice President then called for the optimization of production capacity and increased exports of the national automotive industry.
"Please encourage production efficiency and optimize the use of local components by expanding the involvement of small and medium industry players. This event can help to increase partnerships between large industry and small and medium industry to increase national export capacity," he said.
