Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - Minister of National Development Planning Suharso Monoarfa assured on Wednesday that upcoming regional elections will not disrupt Bali's train-based mass transportation project.

The project is independent of government interference; no state or regional budget is involved, he stated.

Monoarfa stated that the first and second stages are targeted for completion in 2028, while the fourth stage is estimated for 2031.

This underground train, ultimately owned by the Balinese people, is expected to benefit the regional economy.

The project is self-funded and receives no government guarantee, he said.

Monoarfa added that the project adheres to regulations for underground space utilization, with successful pilot programs conducted outside Bali.

PT Bumi Indah Prima, the main investor for Bali's train-based mass transit project, will break ground in September.
