Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Ministry held Vocational Technical Skill Training for villagers to support rural development.

"Strengthening vocational technical skills is expected to help village communities acquire the necessary skills and expertise," Head of the ministry's Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM), Luthfiyah Nurlaela, stated.

While reading out Minister Abdul Halim Iskandar's statement at the opening of the training event here Monday, Nurlaela explained that village communities can play an active role in village development, starting from planning to implementation.

"(This is) especially (helpful) in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the village funds in order to accelerate the achievement of the Village Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and improve the family economy and village independence," she elaborated.

She remarked that the skill training for villagers is part of the ministry's endeavors to empower the community.

"The ministry, which plays a role in community empowerment, needs to strengthen human resource capacity by increasing technical skills for communities in rural and disadvantaged areas," she emphasized.

In addition, she highlighted that the training implementation aligns with Presidential Regulation Number 68 of 2022 concerning the Revitalization of Vocational Education and Vocational Training.

The regulation stipulates the need to improve vocational education and training in order to manage opportunities related to demographic bonus in the country.

Nurlaela said that skill training can help create quality human resources in villages, as the main support in realizing Golden Indonesia, or Indonesia as an advanced country in 2045.

Earlier, Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Abdul Halim Iskandar underscored the need to increase community participation in village development with the help of village assistants.

"The principle is that a village is governed by the community, which is a community-based government," he stated on July 22.
