Bandung (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) stated that Indonesian drivers have successfully operated the Whoosh high-speed train at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

KCIC's Corporate Secretary General Manager, Eva Chairunisa, emphasized that this milestone signifies Indonesia's capability to manage and operate high-speed train technology independently.

"This moment exemplifies significant progress in developing Indonesian human resources within the railway sector. It is evident that the knowledge transfer process from Chinese professionals to Indonesian human resources is proceeding effectively and seamlessly," Eva noted in an official statement on Tuesday.

Eva explained that Indonesian drivers have, under the guidance of instructors, transitioned from being mere observers to fully operating the Whoosh high-speed train under controlled conditions without passengers.

"KCIC remains committed to enhancing training and knowledge transfer programs to ensure all aspects of high-speed train operations and maintenance can be independently conducted by local workers," she highlighted.

She noted that during the training, translators supported Indonesian drivers to facilitate a thorough understanding of the guidance provided by professional drivers.

"Moreover, enabling Indonesian human resources to disseminate this knowledge will enhance the competence of the nation's future workforce," she remarked.

Moreover, Eva stated that 39 out of the 72 Indonesian machinists have progressed to the second stage of the training process. Initially, the Indonesian machinists observed the work procedures of professional machinists.

"As they advance to the second stage, Indonesian machinists have started operating the Whoosh during shunting at the Tegalluar Depot, certifying trains or trains operating ahead of the first travel hour from Halim to Tegalluar," she stated.

Eva further highlighted that 600 local employees are part of the knowledge transfer process in various fields, including machinists and those involved in facility and infrastructure maintenance, as well as train operations.

"This accomplishment underscores KCIC's dedication to nurturing local human resources and ensuring the success of the Whoosh high-speed train project in Indonesia," Eva affirmed.
