KCIC's corporate communications manager, Emir Monti, noted that the fast train had accommodated 19 thousand to 21 thousand passengers on a daily basis during the period.
"Hence, from June 14 to June 18, 2014, the Whoosh fast train transported as many as 92 thousand passengers, with 21 thousand of them travelling on Saturday (June 15)," he remarked when contacted from Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday.
Monti revealed that the total volume of train passengers on the occasion of Eid al-Adha was 25 percent higher than that recorded on normal days.
He noted that 50 percent, or around 46 thousand, of train passengers during the June 17-18 period were travelling from stations in Bandung to Halim Station, Jakarta.
KCIC provided a total of 28,848 and operated 48 Whoosh trips during the Eid al-Adha long holiday period, he stated.
"In detail, the figure comprised 24 trips from Halim Station and 24 trips from Tegalluar or Padalarang stations of Bandung," he pointed out.
Monti further revealed that Southeast Asia's first high-speed train service has accommodated a total of 3.5 million passengers since its inception on October 17, 2023.
He remarked that the huge number of passengers reflected the people's high demand for modern means of public transportation that offered time efficiency as well as comfort.
"KCIC will continue to provide the finest services in order to ensure that the Whoosh train will remain the people's top choice for trips between Jakarta and Bandung," he concluded.
