"This coalition, comprised of individuals from diverse backgrounds, aims to ensure the dissemination of factual information during the Aceh Pilkada," said Reza Munawir, chairman of the Banda Aceh Independent Journalists Alliance (AJI), in Banda Aceh on Sunday.
The coalition includes the Aceh Independent Election Commission (KIP), the Indonesian Cyber Media Association, the Democracy Resilience Youth Coalition, and the Aceh Human Rights NGO, among others.
The Aceh Pilkada is vulnerable to hoaxes that can cause misunderstandings and divisions in the community, Munawir said.
Therefore, he assessed that the multi-sectoral coalition is important in preventing hoax distribution and in facilitating information clarification.
Meanwhile, KIP Aceh Head, Saiful, said that hoax information could cause divisions and conflicts in society.
"It is important to check facts of the information to anticipate hoaxes," he said.
