Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received letters of credence from 10 new Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Friendly Countries to Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday.

Based on an official statement from the Press Bureau in the Presidential Secretariat received in Jakarta, the handover of letters of credence began with the national songs of each friendly country being played after the ambassadors arrived at the Merdeka Palace.

Several troops also carried the flags of the friendly countries and the Republic of Indonesia to the front of the Merdeka Palace.

Mentioned herewith is a list of names of Designate Resident Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Designate Non-Resident Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary who submitted their letters of credence to President Jokowi:

1. Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Indonesia, Brigadier General (retired) Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abdul Kadir;
2. Ambassador of Cuba to Indonesia Dagmar Gonzales Grau;
3. Ambassador of Tunisia to Indonesia Mohamed Trabelsi;
4. Ambassador of Russia to Indonesia Sergei G. Tolchenov;
5. Ambassador of Bulgaria to Indonesia Tanya Dimitrova;
6. Ambassador of Papua New Guinea to Indonesia Simon Namiss;
7. Ambassador of the United States to Indonesia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir;
8. Ambassador of Lithuania to Indonesia based in Singapore Darius Gaidys;
9. Ambassador of North Macedonia to Indonesia based in Canberra Biljana Stefanovska;
10. Ambassador of Slovenia to Indonesia based in Canberra Marko Ham.

The handover of the credentials marked the start of the ambassadors' official assignment in Indonesia.

After submitting their credentials to President Jokowi, the 10 ambassadors took a photo and bid farewell.

They then stood in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace, and Indonesia's national anthem was played.

On this occasion, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Muhammad Yusuf Permana also accompanied the president.
