Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received letters of credence from 10 extraordinary and plenipotentiary (LBPP) Ambassadors from friendly countries.

Based on information from the Presidential Secretariat, the handover of letters of credence was held at the Credentials Room, Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Friday.

The handover procession began with the national songs of each friendly country being played after their ambassadors arrived at the Merdeka Palace.

The 10 ambassadors from friendly countries received by President Jokowi included Sten Frimodt Nielsen as the LBPP Resident Ambassador-Designate of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Republic of Indonesia.

Jokowi received Tean Samnang as the LBPP Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Republic of Indonesia and Serzhan Abdykarimov as the LBPP Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Indonesia.

Sheikh Abdul Karim Harelimana as LBPP Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to the Republic of Indonesia, Ameer Khurram Rathore as LBPP Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Indonesia, and Mario Ignacio Artaza Loyola as LBPP Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to the Republic of Indonesia were also received by the Indonesian president.

Furthermore, Jokowi received Khamfeuang Phanthaxay as the LBPP Ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to the Republic of Indonesia, Jess Dutton as the LBPP Ambassador of Canada to the Republic of Indonesia, Sudqi Atallah Abdel Qader Al Omoush as the LBPP Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Republic of Indonesia, and Floréncio Mariano da Conceição e Almeida as LBPP Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to the Republic of Indonesia.

The Presidential Secretariat stated that the handover of credentials marked the start of the ambassadors' official assignments in Indonesia.

After submitting their credentials to President Jokowi, the 10 ambassadors bid adieu. On this occasion, Indonesia's national anthem was also played.

On this occasion, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung also accompanied the president.
