Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ensured that the government would provide bonuses to medal winners of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

“It will be discussed later. What is certain is that there will be bonuses,” he noted in a press statement after monitoring the LIKE 2 Festival Expo event in Jakarta on Friday.

President Jokowi commended Indonesia’s achievement of bagging gold medals at the multi-sport event, held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.

Sport climbing athlete Veddriq Leonardo secured Indonesia's first gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Thursday (August 8) after becoming the fastest in the men's speed event.

Meanwhile, Rizki Juniansyah won the second gold medal on the same day in the men's 73kg weightlifting event.

“Yes, I am very happy, I highly appreciate it, and I think the community is happy for the gold medals won by Veddriq Leonardo in sport climbing and Rizki Juniansyah in weightlifting,” the president remarked.
