Balikpapan, East Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The government is committed to employing effective measures, such as direct dialogues with people, to resolve land issues, Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning (ATR) Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) emphasized.

Speaking in Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan, on Sunday, AHY expressed hope that his visit to the province on August 11-13 would result in a solution to agrarian problems local residents are facing.

He affirmed that the Ministry of ATR would always be present to heed people's complaints and inputs in a bid to formulate an accurate and legal solution to land issues.

AHY, however, acknowledged that dealing with matters concerning land plots and spatial planning require patience and tenacity due to their complex and challenging nature.

"Please, understand that on account of the complexity of the agrarian affairs and spatial planning, we need to take time and be patient to find the solution," he stressed.

He then underlined that he would make the most of his stay in East Kalimantan to pay a visit to agrarian affairs offices in Balikpapan and surrounding regions.

Furthermore, AHY is also scheduled to participate in a plenary cabinet meeting that will be chaired by President Joko Widodo at the Garuda Palace, Nusantara Capital City, on Monday (August 12).

"Tomorrow, Mr. President Joko Widodo will preside over the cabinet meeting, due to be held for the first time in the new capital city. The meeting will be a crucial and historic moment," he said.

The minister also revealed his plan to accompany the head of state during the groundbreaking ceremonies of several projects in the city, including the buildings of Bank BCA, PT Intiland, PT Hotel Papua Internasional, and PT Royal Golden Edge.
