Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian intends to work towards tackling issues related to the acquisition of land parcels at Indonesia's new capital city, Nusantara, to accelerate its development process.
The minister observed that land-related issues have been among the most notable stumbling blocks in the development of the capital city, adding that the involvement of regional governments is paramount to addressing the issues.
"I wield the capacity to easily link (relevant regional governments) to Mr. Basuki Hadimuljono (OIKN acting head)," he stated after attending a joint meeting with the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Monday.
Karnavian remarked that the resignation of former Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) ead Bambang Susantono had prompted him to play a bigger role in the development of Indonesia's future seat of government in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan.
He also expressed optimism about being able to synergize with leaders of East Kalimantan Province and North Penajam Paser District, considering their status as his aides at the Home Affairs Ministry.
"We share emotional bonds," the former chief of the National Police (Polri) stated.
The minister then expressed his keenness to begin working in Nusantara and enjoy the city's natural beauty, noting that he always enjoyed his deployments to naturally scenic regions during his service at the Polri.
He then suggested that government institutions award a promotion to civil servants willing to be transferred to Nusantara.
"When I was serving at the Papua Regional Police, I made a policy aimed at encouraging personnel to be stationed in Papua. Those serving well in the region were then promoted," he added,
