Jakarta (ANTARA) - The 79th Independence Day commemoration ceremony on August 17 will be held in Indonesia's new capital, Nusantara, and the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Coordinating Minister of Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, stated.

Following a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, he revealed that the ceremony in Nusantara, located in East Kalimantan, will be led directly by President Joko Widodo, accompanied by President-elect Prabowo Subianto.

State guests, including ambassadors from friendly countries, will be invited to attend the ceremony in the new capital.

"Ambassadors will attend in Nusantara, and they will not stay overnight there. Hence, after the ceremony, they will return," Effendy explained.

Meanwhile, the 79th Independence Day commemoration ceremony in Jakarta will be led by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, accompanied by Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Effendy stated that at Monday's meeting, the president underscored the need to pay attention to the invitation for national figures, such as former presidents and vice presidents.

Effendy stated that the meeting, attended by representatives from various ministries and stakeholders, emphasized the importance of inviting national figures such as former presidents and vice presidents. Discussions also covered entertainment events facilitated by the State Secretariat.

Effendy said that preparations for the VVIP Airport in Nusantara had reached 90 percent completion.

"The VVIP Airport's completion is expected by late July, ensuring its functionality for the ceremony," he remarked.
