"There are two things regarding this, namely to prioritize local products in daily transactions and job creation through their involvement," he informed while visiting Mojokerto, East Java, on Tuesday.
He was in Mojokerto to attend the opening of a job market at vocational high school SMK Mutia Ngoro and an event to promote a love for domestic products at public high school SMAN 1 Puri Mojokerto.
He said that by utilizing the wide access to information, young people can gain an understanding of current progress and figure out the innovations that can be carried out.
"If the economy in various sectors is filled with smart and critical young people, there must be many innovations that can be applied," he added.
He said that the younger generation is at the forefront in using innovations that can boost the progress of the nation.
According to the minister, while the productive-age population is shrinking in many countries, Indonesia is experiencing a demographic bonus, with 70 percent of its population belonging to the productive age.
Therefore, cross-sector cooperation is needed to jointly optimize the younger generation's potential to match industrial needs, he said.
"We must work together to bridge students with the industrial world, as well as provide a lot of space for them to realize their potential fully," he added.
To create an inclusive and competitive economic ecosystem, he said, smart young talents can prioritize the use of domestic products, become skilled workers, or become job providers.
