Jakarta (ANTARA) - A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck Yogyakarta at 7:57 p.m. on Monday, however, according to the official website of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency, it did not pose a tsunami threat.

The BMKG reported that the earthquake's epicenter was located at sea at 8.78 degrees south latitude and 110.27 degrees east longitude, approximately 95 kilometers southwest of Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, at a depth of 30km.

The tremors from the quake were felt at Levels II-III on the Modified Mercalli Intensity scale in Tasikmalaya, Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, and Kediri, East Java.
