"(We) are looking at the conditions on the ground because there are many things that have not been completed (in terms of construction), including (of) the airport," the president stated during a working visit in Yogyakarta on Wednesday.
The head of state emphasized that he would not move to Nusantara in September if the infrastructure on the ground, such as the airport, had not been completed.
The completion of Nusantara airport will facilitate activities in the eastern part of the country, including his working visits to Papua and East Nusa Tenggara.
When Jokowi began working at Nusantara for the first time at the end of July, he had ensured that some basic infrastructure, such as water supply, electricity, and internet network, were ready for use.
However, in order to be able to start working at Nusantara in September, he said, the airport needed to be ready.
"Yes, the airport (is important)," he noted.
The airport in Nusantara is scheduled to be ready for operation in early September, according to Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi.
"The presidential aircraft can be landed in early September," he remarked in Jakarta on Monday (August 26).
