Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Transportation Ministry has currently made it mandatory for international travelers to use the SATUSEHAT application as an effort to curb the spread of Mpox.

This requirement is set up following the WHO declaration of a public health emergency of international concern on Mpox on August 14, 2024, and the implementation of a Ministerial Circular on the SATUSEHAT Health Pass.

The policy requiring international travelers to fill SATUSEHAT Health Pass has come into effect from August 27, 2024.

The ministry's Director General of Air Transportation, M. Kristi Endah Murni, stated here on Wednesday that the rule applies to all foreign travelers, including the flight crew and passengers.

"Every foreign traveler flying to Indonesia must fill out an electronic self-declaration form called the SATUSEHAT Health Pass, as a guide for international airport operators to prevent and handle Mpox transmission at airports," she stated.

The electronic self-declaration form can be found at https://sshp.kemkes.go.id. The process can be carried out at the departure airport.

Murni has urged airport authorities to coordinate with health quarantine centers to handle issues in handling passengers suspected of being infected with Mpox at the arrival airport.

According to the government, all cases of Mpox in Indonesia were found mainly in the Java and Riau Islands regions.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, on Tuesday (August 27), reported full recovery in all cases of Mpox in Indonesia that occurred throughout 2022 until now, consisting of the 2B variant.

"Since the Public Health Emergency of International Concern status was announced by WHO in 2022, Indonesia has reported a total of 88 cases of Mpox," he stated.

The Indonesian government is also procuring an additional 1,600 Mpox vaccine doses, he remarked.

He noted that out of the one thousand vaccine doses earlier purchased, only 40 remain.

"We are awaiting the arrival of 1,600 more vaccine doses, expected this week," he noted.
