The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) has collaborated with the University of Indonesia (UI), Hermina Hospital, and Mayapada Healthcare to present free health services to people residing in the development zone of Nusantara Capital City (IKN).
"Yesterday (August 29), we offered free health services at Sepaku Regional Public Hospital, attracting 146 people in total," OIKN Director of Basic Services, Suwito, remarked in IKN, East Kalimantan, on Friday.
He explained that 110 of the participating residents had undergone eye examinations, while the 36 others were pregnant women seeking to receive prenatal checkups.
During the service provision, Suwito explained that the OIKN and partners conducted the dissemination of health-related information, distributed free eyeglasses, and organized a workshop dedicated to local doctors and health workers.
The event began with the dissemination of information aimed at building people's awareness of the importance of maintaining eye health, identifying symptoms of vision problems, and preventing eye diseases.
An antenatal care counseling session took place for health workers, with a focus on providing relevant information on treatments and services needed by pregnant women and their children.
"This activity drew participation from all health workers in Nusantara and not only those coming from Sepaku Sub-district," Suwito stated.
He then underlined that the social service activity was made possible owing to the government's willingness to synergize with various parties to improve the quality of and access to health services in Indonesia's future capital city.
"The government provided health services to people while aiming to boost the capacity of health workers in order to make such services more accessible to the broader population," he remarked.
Meanwhile, Em Yunir, a representative of the UI Faculty of Medicine, extended appreciation for the success of the activity.
"The collaboration reflects our commitment to applying medical science and serving the nation to bring concrete benefits to people, especially those in need in Nusantara," he noted.
