Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggar (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is striving for sustainable development in frontier villages in Indonesia by implementing the Impact Investment Day (IID) 2024.

"By bringing together diverse stakeholders from across the globe, we hope to ignite collaborations that will foster sustainable development across Indonesia, especially in frontier villages," Head of the People Economic Empowerment Division (BPEK) of Kadin Indonesia Bambang Brodjonegoro said here Sunday.

He said Labuan Bajo was chosen as the host of the event because the region, with its rich cultural heritage and stunning natural beauty, represented the untapped potential for sustainable investment.

He noted that the region, and many others across Indonesia, offered unique potentials for the impact investing that could bring benefits to environment and local communities.

“Our participation here today (in this event) underscores our commitment to unlocking these potentials as well as driving inclusive and sustainable growth," Bambang remarked.

He said that over the past few years, Indonesia has made significant progress in promoting sustainable development and a restorative economy.

“However, the journey is far from getting completed. We stand at a critical crossroad where the needs for investment in sustainable practices is more pressing than ever.” he noted.

In overcoming the challenge, the implementation of IID 2024 acted to bridge the impact drivers, such as social entrepreneurs and innovative communities, with the impact enablers, namely investors, philanthropists, and donors, he said.

“We affirm our commitment to the future when economic growth does not come at the cost of our planet or our communities. Let’s work together to ensure that investment does not only drive financial returns, but also social and environmental impacts,” Bambang said.

The Impact Investment Day (IID) 2024 was a side event of the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (IISF) 2024, held by Kadin Indonesia and the Environmental Bamboo Foundation (EBF) in Labuan Bajo, NTT, September 7-8, 2024.

The event included business pitching and match funding for selected social enterprises, including BambooCoop, EcoNusa Foundation, Jaga Semesta, Javara, Krealogi, Spedagi, Tiga Pilar Pertiwi, TORAJAMELO, Blue School, Kalara Borneo, Riles Lestary, Tenun. In, and Timor Moringa, with global investors, such as Temasek Foundation.
