He made the statement as part of his Mawlid Day greetings to commemorate Muhammad's birth on every 12th day of Rabi’ul Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar, which in 2024 coincided with September 16.
“In the Prophet Muhammad’s Mawlid, let us make the Rasulullah (God’s Messenger) as an inspiration to emanate good and peace to all,” the president conveyed this through his official Instagram account, as observed here on Monday.
Jokowi’s statement on Instagram was accompanied by a picture depicting Indonesian Muslims celebrating the birth of Muhammad.
The message is expected to strengthen the people's commitment to preserving social harmony and improving their quality of life. He also expressed hope that people would pray for one another to do good.
“We hope we will always be empowered to emulate His noble deeds,” the president remarked.
The Mawlid of Prophet Muhammad is a public holiday in Indonesia. Indonesians celebrated the day by gathering in religious assemblies and Quran recitations, while some regions organized traditional processions.
