Samarinda, E Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The transaction value at the 30th National Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) exhibition, held from September 8 to 15 in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, is estimated to have reached Rp6 billion (around US$390,000), according to a local official.

East Kalimantan's Assistant for Economy and Development, Ujang Rachmad, remarked on Sunday that the exhibition served as a forum for artists, business actors, and the community to share inspiration and ideas.

"We are grateful to all parties that contributed to the success of this event," he said.

The MTQ is a national Quran recitation competition, first held in Makassar, South Sulawesi, in 1968.

Rachmad praised the 30th National MTQ exhibition, which showcased halal food, arts, and calligraphy from various countries.

The exhibition lasted for eight days, the longest compared to previous editions. It featured 112 indoor exhibition booths and 200 booths for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"We are grateful that many visitors from other regions attended the exhibition, and everything went smoothly until the closing ceremony," Rachmad remarked.

He also congratulated all participants, especially the regional apparatus organizations (OPDs) that won the National MTQ expo booth competition.

First place in the innovative category was awarded to East Kalimantan's Office of Population and Civil Registry. The province's Population, Women's Empowerment, and Child Protection Office took second place, while third place was secured by the province's Office of Communication and Informatics (Diskominfo).

The Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD) won first place in the creative category, followed by the province's Office of Industry, Trade, and Cooperatives, with third place going to the Regional Committee for Sharia Economy and Finance (KDEKS).
