Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the Merdeka Palace here on Saturday morning, and conversed about various issues, including the incoming leadership of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, for at least 30 minutes.

Jokowi received Yudhoyono, popularly known by his initials SBY, at the Palace's Jepara Room at 10:53 a.m. Jakarta time.

During the meeting, the president and his predecessor reiterated their commitment to supporting the government of Prabowo Subianto, who will take office next month.

"Mr. SBY and I concurred to fully support the new administration under the leadership of Mr. Prabowo Subianto," Jokowi stated after he met with Yudhoyono.

Meanwhile, Yudhoyono spoke of having informed Jokowi about his recent appointment as special advisor in the global alliance for malaria eradication during the meeting.

The former president said he intended to meet President-elect Prabowo Subianto to convey the same information. He also informed that Indonesia will host a global summit on malaria eradication next year.

After presenting their remarks to the press, Jokowi accompanied Yudhoyono to his vehicle to depart from the Merdeka Palace.

Before the Saturday meeting, the most recent encounter between Jokowi and Yudhoyono occurred at the Bogor Palace in October 2023.
