"This initiative is not only a positive step, but also ensures that the Pilkada can run in an orderly and quality manner," he added here on Tuesday.
He said the declaration is a sign that the Pilkada will run well and become a fiesta of democracy for the people.
"The Pilkada must be a democratic celebration for the people of West Java, so it must be carried out properly, calmly, and free of intervention. This declaration aims to strengthen commitment, maintain peace, respect each other, and uphold political ethics," he added.
The acting governor also asked each pair's campaign teams to remember that the peaceful declaration is not only a ceremonial event, but lays a strong foundation for a peaceful and just election that prioritizes the people's interests.
He also asked the candidates who win the election to run the government well later, considering that West Java province has extraordinary potential.
"West Java can become the most advanced province with togetherness as the key. Recently, with cooperation, we won (the general champion title) in the 21st National Sports Week. I hope all parties can make this election a democratic event that will elect the best leaders in West Java," he said.
In the peace declaration, the candidate pairs declared their intention to help realize a Pilkada without the circulation of hoaxes, politicizing of sensitive issues, money politics, and spread of hate speech.
