Jhoni Way, the acting regional secretary of the provincial government, said on Wednesday that social security, including JKN, is a constitutional right for every citizen.
He emphasized the need for provincial governments across the country to oversee the program's implementation.
Way stated that Southwest Papua has made significant progress in implementing the JKN program for all communities, achieving JKN coverage of 98 percent of the total population across all districts and cities.
"This is a tangible manifestation of local government support for the implementation of the JKN program," he explained.
He noted that this cooperation has helped Southwest Papua achieve its UHC goal and that the province was awarded recognition by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin in August.
"On behalf of the government, I ask for the support of all parties in Southwest Papua to ensure the success of national strategic programs, including JKN," he added.
Synergy to improve the quality of national health insurance services in primary and referral health facilities must also be implemented in accordance with Ministerial Regulation No. 15 of 2023.
"I hope that all regional leaders at the district and city levels can continue to collaborate with BPJS Kesehatan to realize service transformations that are directly felt by the community, especially for indigenous Papuans," he remarked.
