At the meeting held on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Thursday, Marsudi highlighted the development of global water resources as one of the cooperation sectors with the potential to be strengthened.
"In the future, Indonesia is interested in continuing to strengthen collaboration in advancing the global water agenda, as well as developing cooperation in the field of hydropower and floating photovoltaic (FPV) development," she remarked, according to a statement from her ministry received on Friday.
Marsudi considers the cooperation reasonable, as Tajikistan is one of the countries that excels in advancing global water issues.
At the meeting, the minister also highlighted the achievements of the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Bali last May, which the Tajikistan prime minister attended.
Furthermore, the two ministers discussed the opening of the Indonesian Embassy in Dushanbe and the development of political consultations between the foreign ministries of both nations to revitalize bilateral mechanisms.
Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Tajikistan are entering the 30th year in 2024.
The two also discussed strengthening cooperation in trade and investment, especially advancing contacts between business players.
Marsudi invited business players of Tajikistan to attend and participate in the Indonesia-South and Central Asia Business Forum (INASCA) 2024, which will be held in Jakarta in October.
In the same statement, Minister Muhriddin welcomed and fully supported Indonesia's initiative to host the INASCA 2024, saying that he would involve stakeholders related to investment in Tajikistan, such as the central bank, investment ministry, and private sector, to participate.
He also expressed hope that relations between the communities of Indonesia and Tajikistan would grow stronger, especially with an increasing number of Tajik students pursuing higher education in Indonesia.
