Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Alms Agency (Baznas) of Indonesia has devised 10 priority programs expected to help the country alleviate poverty next year.

"Baznas has prepared 10 priority programs expected to genuinely improve people's economic conditions," Deputy II of Baznas Imdadun Rahmat noted in the agency's statement received here on Friday.

The 10 programs comprise Baznas Healthy Houses, Baznas Microfinance, Zakat Villages, Santripreneur, Baznas Scholarships, Z-Chicken, Z-Mart, Inhabitable Houses, Eradication of Stunting and Extreme Poverty, and Disaster Response of Baznas.

Speaking at the Baznas National Coordination Meeting 2024 in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, on Thursday (September 26) night, he underscored that the programs cover a range of essential aspects, such as economic empowerment, education, health, and technology.

"Through these priority programs, Baznas aims to not only focus on the provision of material assistance but also pursue sustainable empowerment," Rahmat explained.

The official emphasized that his office remains resolute in helping recipients of Islamic philanthropic funds maintain their health, build their capacity to achieve economic self-reliance, and enable them to access proper educational services.

"In other words, our objective is not only to help them survive but also to give them opportunities to grow," he stated.

Rahmat then highlighted that Baznas is optimistic about contributing to Indonesia's poverty alleviation journey by implementing the programs in collaboration with governments, private actors, and members of the public.

"Let us make zakat (Islamic alms) an effective solution to the actualization of social justice," he added.

The Baznas National Coordination Meeting, taking place on September 25-27, draws participation from around 1,200 Baznas officials representing the agency's headquarters and regional offices in 38 provinces and 514 cities and districts.

The theme adopted for the national meeting is "Synergizing for Inclusive Zakat Management to Alleviate Poverty and Pursue Prosperity to Make the Asta Cita Missions a Success."
