According to a statement from the KPK received here on Saturday, the MoU encapsulates several points of collaboration: corruption prevention and monitoring, state apparatus management, the strengthening of policies and regulation, institutions and governance, bureaucratic reform, people's education and roles, and exchange of information.
KPK Chairman Nawawi Pomolango said the cooperation document that he signed reflects the commitment of his office and PAN RB Ministry to working side by side to address obstacles impeding corruption eradication and deal with new modes of corruption.
Speaking of bureaucratic reform, he stressed that the two institutions remain resolute in supporting the development of the Electronic-Based Government System to improve public services, making them more accountable, efficient, and accessible.
He also drew attention to the need to provide utmost protection to whistleblowers and their families from intimidation and threats to ensure the success of corruption eradication in Indonesia.
"As stipulated by Law No. 30 of 2002, KPK is responsible for protecting witnesses or whistleblowers of corrupt acts, including by guaranteeing them security and concealing their identity," Pomolango highlighted.
Furthermore, he emphasized the need for the two state institutions to maintain coordination and regularly evaluate their cooperation to ensure progress and accuracy.
Also present during the MoU signing, PAN RB Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas spotlighted the connection between corruption eradication and digital transformation.
"We aim to solidify the SPBE to achieve transparency in bureaucratic activities," he noted in the PAN RB Ministry's statement.
He underscored the need for Indonesia to take cues from countries with successful digital transformation, such as Denmark and Finland, that tend to excel in corruption eradication.
The minister also remarked that digital transformation could help the government provide speedy and more impactful bureaucratic services to the public.
