"The community's participation is still in the good category. In regions, people have their own picks," he remarked on the sidelines of a seminar held by the National Resilience Institute in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Tjahjanto's assessment was based on the visit he undertook to various regions, such as Jayapura in Papua, Makassar in South Sulawesi, Bali, Yogyakarta, and Medan in North Sumatra.
As the minister assessed, active community participation in supporting regional head candidates has its risks, as people would do their best to bring victory to their preferred candidates.
To this end, he divided the potential conflicts that may emerge into two sessions, namely conflict in the field and conflict in the Constitutional Court (MK), considering that MK is an institution that has the authority to make a verdict regarding disputes on elections' results.

He underlined that security in regions after the issuance of MK's decisions is a priority.
"We are anticipating it to ensure no riot occurs in regions," he remarked.
To maintain security in the regions, the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs is increasing synergy between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) in mapping regions with potential for conflicts.
The campaigning period for the 2024 Regional Head Elections started on September 25 and will end on November 23. The voting day will take place on November 27 simultaneously across Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the vote-counting process will start on November 27 and continue until December 16.
