Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto was tasked by President-elect Prabowo Subianto to maintain stable economic conditions.

Hartarto received the mandate when he met with Prabowo at his residence in the Kartanegara IV area here on Monday.

"During the discussion, he asked (me) to continue to maintain the economic situation which is also currently facing extraordinary challenges, and geopolitics, as well as food and energy issues that are also crucial in the current situation," the minister told the media crew.

However, Hartarto was reluctant to confirm whether the discussion signaled his return to shouldering responsibilities as minister for the economy.

According to the minister, this matter should only be announced directly by Prabowo as the president-elect.

"However, the assignment is certainly in accordance with the field that I have been working in," Hartarto remarked.

Earlier in the day, Prabowo called 49 people who would be ministerial candidates to his residence.

The 49 figures comprised politicians, experts, academics, ministerial officials, and police officers still active during the administration of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

After being summoned, the ministerial candidates will attend a briefing by Prabowo in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (Oct 16).

Daily executive chairman of Gerindra Party Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated that although the figures who came to Prabowo's residence would be invited to Hambalang, he said it was possible that they would not be involved in the cabinet.

It is because they also have the right to consider Prabowo's offer.

Hence, he ensured that various maneuvers were still possible before the inauguration day.

"If the ministerial candidate then makes changes after consulting with their family, then of course, there will be changes," Dasco stated.
