Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Greater Jakarta Police will deploy 6,757 personnel to secure the inauguration of the President-elect and Vice President-elect on Sunday (October 20).

"Security personnel will include the Greater Jakarta Police personnel, the District Military Command, the Jakarta Provincial Government, and related parties," Head of the Greater Jakarta Police's Public Relations Senior Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi confirmed here on Thursday.

Indradi explained that the total 6,757 personnel comprised 4,100 from the Greater Jakarta Police Task Force, 1,667 joint personnel of the local police, 857 from the Central Jakarta Police Task Force, and 133 from the regional government and other parties.

"Those who are targeted for the security (measures) include the President-elect and Vice President-elect, invited guests, invited heads of state, VIP and VVIP vehicles, and for the Parliament Complex area," he remarked.

He stated that the joint security personnel will also guard the routes taken by VIP and VVIP vehicles.

Indradi said that the traffic scheme during the inauguration event on Sunday will be situational.

The police will divert traffic flow in the event of congestion around the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta.

"We appeal to road users to avoid the area and look for other alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion," he stated.

He invited the community to maintain security and order.

"(This is) so that the inauguration of the President-elect and VP-elect will run safely and in an orderly manner," he noted.

President-elect Prabowo Subianto and VP-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka will be inaugurated on Sunday. They will then go to the Presidential Palace to partake in the government handover procession with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
