Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto has pledged to make sure that all forms of social assistance and subsidies from the government for the lower-income classes reach the right targets under his leadership.

"We must ensure that all subsidies, assistance to our people who are still in difficult circumstances, reach those who need them," he said in his inaugural speech after being sworn in as the 8th President of Indonesia at the Nusantara Building in the Senayan legislative complex here on Sunday.

Prabowo emphasized that the Indonesian Government will be brave in examining and taking action on the distribution of assistance and subsidies to make them more targeted.

"If necessary, we will change the subsidies so that they go directly to families who need them," he informed.

With the technology and digitalization that will be implemented later, it is hoped that the subsidies and assistance will reach every family in need, he said.

"This assistance must not fail to reach those who need it," he emphasized.

Prabowo further said that Indonesian children will get to eat nutritious meals at least once a day under the Free Nutritious Meal Program promoted during his presidential campaign.

"We will do that, and we can do that," he said.

Prabowo also assured that his government will protect the weak to ensure the welfare and prosperity of all Indonesian people.

"We must downstream all the commodities that we have. The added value of all these commodities must increase our economic strength so our people can achieve a prosperous standard of living," he added.
