Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto held his first official dinner after being sworn in as the 8th President of Indonesia.

During a gala dinner at the State Palace, Sunday evening, Prabowo expressed his highest appreciation for the presence of the fellow countries leaders at the presidential inauguration earlier at Senayan legislative complex.

"Your presence here is not only an honor for me, but also for my people and my country. The fact that you made a great effort to travel miles, to leave your important political and government duties to spend some time with us is indeed very touching and very moving for us," Prabowo stated in his remarks.

He further said that as a country that is only recently experiencing constitutional democracy, Indonesia still needs to learn a lot to implement ideal democracy.

"So once again, on behalf of the Indonesian people and I personally, please accept our greatest appreciation and my highest assurance that we hold the relationship between Indonesia and all countries represented here with the highest degree of regard," he added.

"We would like to continue this relationship and this friendship. Indonesia would like to be the best of neighbors, the best of partners, to work together for the common good, common peace, common prosperity," Prabowo concluded.

Prabowo then led a toasting procession with the leaders of the countries present, including among others, Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah, President of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim and Prime Minister or Singapore Lawrence Wong.

Also presented during the dinner were Prime Minister of Timor Leste Xanana Gusmao, Deputy Prime Minister of Qatar Khalid bin Mohamed Al-Attiyah, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence of the UAE Sheikh Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan, US Representative to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield as well as First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov.
