Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti expressed his openness to receiving more inputs and suggestions from the public to improve the national education system.

"I am keen to hear more inputs in my first month as minister before making strategic decisions," Mu'ti stated after his induction as minister at the Presidential Palace here on Monday.

The scholar, who belongs to the Muslim organization Muhammadiyah, said he sought more inputs from public groups and studied issues in the educational system through observation.

He will heed inputs from education actors and study research on education issues.

"I will also listen to inputs from the people outside (the educational ecosystem) and those who have attended our education services," the new minister remarked.

Meanwhile, Mu'ti noted that President Prabowo gave two specific instructions, with the first being to exert efforts to improve primary and secondary education.

Prabowo also instructed him to synergize with other ministers and government agency chiefs in carrying out government policies.

"A huge mandate is over my shoulder because the quality of our future generation hinges on the human resources' quality," he remarked.

President Prabowo Subianto has decided to split the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology established under his predecessor, Joko Widodo, into three ministries.

While Abdul Mu'ti will be responsible for the primary and secondary education portfolio, Fadli Zon will serve as minister of culture, and Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro as minister of higher education, science, and technology.

Mu'ti, along with other cabinet members and cabinet-level officials, were inducted to their office by President Prabowo Subianto on Monday morning.
