"Thus, if she has an assistant, she can be independent with her assistant. A mother has a heavy burden because she has to educate her children. Therefore, women must be smart," Tan remarked here on Monday (Oct 20).
As a mother of three, Tan realizes the importance of a woman's role. She also underscored that women must give birth to good quality children.
"(It is) because I see many mothers who may have children but they do not have a plan. They do not think about the best education for their children in the future," Veronica remarked.
In this regard, she is committed to educating girls to delay early marriage.
"Those are the aspects that need to be educated. This is the main target, which is to educate them so that they become smart and independent women," she remarked.
She also emphasized the importance of education for prospective brides and grooms to prepare for a mature marriage.
On Monday (Oct 21), Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated Tan to serve as deputy minister of women's empowerment and child protection (PPPA) in the Red and White Cabinet for the 2024-2029 period.
The appointment of a deputy minister is a historic first for the Ministry of PPPA. As deputy minister, Tan will accompany and assist the new Minister of PPPA, Arifatul Choiri Fauzi.
