"Support from all stakeholders is essential to promote the rights of Indonesian women and children," she stated in a press release on Wednesday.
During a meeting with Commission VIII of the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Tuesday, she highlighted a decrease in cases of violence against women and children in Indonesia.
Arifatul noted that, according to the 2021 and 2024 National Women's Life Experience Survey (SPHPN), Indonesia has made progress in reducing violence against women, a key target in the 2020–2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
Meanwhile, the 2024 National Survey of Life Experiences of Children and Adolescents (SNPHAR) reported a prevalence of violence against boys at 49.83 percent and against girls at 51.78 percent.
"Although there has been a decline in child marriage cases, we are still facing a high number of requests for marriage dispensations. Additionally, many child marriages remain unregistered, as they are conducted according to custom or religion," she added.
