Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno advised the Ministry of Population and Family Development to ride the wave of other ministries/institutions' programs to tackle stunting.

"We should ride the wave, such as the involvement of the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry in sanitation construction or house renovation for crucial areas related to stunting problems," he expounded during his visit to the Population Ministry on Thursday.

If fellow ministries can identify stunting problems, it will be easier to mobilize human resources to accelerate stunting reduction, he added.

"The problem of stunting is related to nutritious food. It can be linked to food production, logistics, and purchasing power. If related to water, we can discuss it with PUPR or Agriculture Ministries. With the Home Affairs Ministry, we can discuss the effective strategy to mobilize resources," Pratikno explained.

He assured that his ministry will carry out the navigation function for every program related to human resource development, including stunting reduction.

Pratikno also advised regions with high fiscal capacity to roll out protein programs for pregnant women or teenagers to help them meet their nutritional needs.

"Regions abundant with resources should provide a power boost, such as the provision of boiled eggs to maintain nutritional intake," he said.

He also reminded the Ministry to identify programs and funds that can be utilized from other ministries, while preparing its own human resources.

He also underlined the importance of nutrition education in schools so that children and parents can educate each other.

"Children and parents can learn from each other through nutrition education in schools. Knowledge on nutrition can be inserted into the curriculum so that the children can educate their parents and vice versa," he stated.
