Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno, has asked the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) to prepare a synergy program cutting across ministries/institutions.

"Joint synergy is important to achieve our target of providing excellent service for the community. Especially since BPJPH is closely tied to other ministries and institutions," he said in a statement released by his office on Friday.

He also reminded the agency to formulate programs for the short and long term. Synergy across ministries/institutions is important considering that the halal product ecosystem chain involves various stakeholders.

"Please coordinate with others to formulate our targets, so we can share the task. We should have a big impact on the community, related to each performance indicator," the minister said.

Earlier, BPJPH emphasized that the halal certification obligation has officially been in effect since October 18, 2024, for business actors.

"To oversee the implementation of the halal certification obligation, as mandated by Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Assurance, BPJPH has been carrying out simultaneous supervision of Halal Product Assurance starting October 18, 2024," the head of BPJPH, Haikal Hasan, informed.

He said that to supervise halal product guarantees, his agency has prepared 1,032 supervisory personnel based on supervisors' requirements, which include passing JPH (Halal Products Guarantee) supervisor training.

"We have prepared our JPH supervisory personnel. According to regulations, the supervision of halal certification obligation is our responsibility," he added.

Furthermore, the involvement of ministries, institutions, and/or local governments in implementing JPH supervision can be carried out after coordinating with BPJPH, Hasan informed.

He further said that non-halal products are exempted from the halal certification requirement.

"Business actors with products from non-halal or non-halal ingredients are certainly exempted from the halal certification provision," he added.
