Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) stated that more than 50 countries are so far intent on cooperating with Indonesia in the field of halal product assurance.

Head of the Halal Product Assurance Development and Monitoring Center of the BPJPH, Dzikro, made the statement in a seminar monitored online here on Monday.

He explained that some of these countries include Singapore, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Uruguay, with the figure having continued to increase after the enactment of Law Number 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance.

Dzikro noted that currently, more than 17 countries have established cooperation agreements with Indonesia, with 28 foreign religious institutions being assessed to establish cooperation in the field of halal product assurance.

He affirmed that the cooperation agreements have reflected the high level of enthusiasm among the world's business players regarding Indonesia's halal product assurance.

Dzikro said this trend is influenced by the increasingly widespread development of the halal lifestyle across the world.

"Halal lifestyle does not only apply to Muslims but also all other humans, regardless of religion, tribe, nationality, and where a person lives," he remarked.

Dzikro also stated that the mandatory halal regulation in Law Number 33 of 2014 is an important point in bringing about a change in the situation and conditions of halal product assurance implementation in Indonesia.

He further noted that halal product assurance had experienced a shift in meaning, with no longer being a religious service, but rather has expanded its function as an added value to products that have an impact on the economy.

"This law has a good goal, namely ensuring security, comfort, safety, and certainty of halal products for the community," he remarked.
