Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Head Dadan Hindayana affirmed that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) is a strategic partner in the free nutritious meal program prioritized by President Prabowo Subianto.

"Polri will be one of the strategic partners in implementing the free nutritious meal program. They have been integrated into management, both on the board of directors and structural positions," Hindayana stated when confirmed via text message in Jakarta, Monday.

Hindayana conveyed this in response to Polri's move to recruit members with special competencies from agriculture to animal husbandry graduates who will be assigned as Bhabinkamtibmas to support the free nutritious meal program.

"The free nutritious meal program is a major program that requires synergy from all elements. BGN will synergize with other ministries and institutions, including Polri," he remarked.

At a hearing with members of the House of Representatives (DPR), Hindayana remarked that 100 pilot projects for free nutritious meals are spread from Sabang to Merauke, but most of them are still on Java Island.

"(This is) because the majority of the schools are in Java," he explained.

He emphasized that the initial stage of the free nutritious meal program is still adopting what has been carried out by BGN in the sub-districts of Warungkiara and Sukabumi and Bojong Koneng Village in West Java.

Hindayana highlighted that service units would spread across the province, with one nutritionist to determine the standard nutritional proportions for children.

"In each service unit, we require nutritionists who are educated in universities, and they already understand the standard nutritional proportions for children, be it for toddlers, early childhood program, elementary school, to high school," he elaborated.

Meanwhile, Polri supported President Prabowo Subianto's program in the context of food security and the provision of free nutritious lunches, one of which was through the recruitment of members from agricultural-animal husbandry school graduates.

"We will recruit graduates of agricultural, animal husbandry, fisheries, and nutrition and public health," Head of the Personnel Control Bureau of Polri Brigadier General Nurworo Danang stated.

Danang explained that members of the National Police recruited from agricultural to animal husbandry graduates would later be assigned as Bhabinkamtibmas.

He noted that they would accompany and educate the community to farm and raise livestock.
