Jakarta (ANTARA) - Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono stated that the Indonesian Air Force is strengthening its cyber defense capabilities through the 2024 Angkasa Yudha training.

"We are utilizing all of our cyber assets, including both software and hardware," he remarked during a press conference at the Air Force headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Monday.

He emphasized that cyber defense is a crucial element, as modern warfare involves not only physical strength but also information and network hacking attacks.

By strengthening its cyber capabilities, Harjono believes Indonesia can effectively counter information and hacking attacks from foreign countries.

In the exercise, his team will develop a cyberattack scenario and prepare countermeasures to address it.

"We also work with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN). There will be a scenario of a cyberattack, and our efforts to overcome it and attack back," he explained.

He then highlighted that this training would be held in stages, with the first series taking place on November 4-8, 2024.

During this period, his side conducts cyber defense and the Military Decision-Making Process Training (PPKM).

The training will be followed by the second phase of the exercise, namely War Gaming or war tactic planning that will be carried out in a military mission.

For the last session, field training will be held at each air base. The Indonesian Air Force will also conduct a Fire Power Demo to test all defense equipment, Harjono explained.

The two activities included in the Angkasa Yudha training series will be held on November 25-29, 2024.

Harjono said he would mobilize all personnel, defense equipment, and fighter jets in this activity.

"There will be 2,500 personnel involved along with the defense equipment in the form of 56 aircraft, radar tool, a tactical vehicle, and special vehicles as well," he remarked.
