"Indonesia is a reflection of Islamic principles that is friendly, peaceful, and soothing," Prabowo said in his speech, which was read by Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar, at the International Conference on Humanitarian Islam in Depok, West Java, on Tuesday.
In the speech, Prabowo highlighted Indonesia's uniqueness as a country with harmonious diversity, where more than 280 million people live peacefully by respecting differences in religion, culture, and ethnicity.
He further emphasized the role of Pancasila, which unites Islamic principles with an inclusive and humanist national spirit.
"These are the values inherited from the founding fathers of Indonesia that we must maintain and continue," he added.
Regarding Indonesia's role in the international arena, the President said that since the declaration of independence on August 17, 1945, Indonesia has been actively promoting peace and dialogue between nations.
"The 1955 Asia-Africa Conference is one of the historical proofs of Indonesia's commitment to promoting solidarity, independence, and world peace," he observed.
He also highlighted Indonesia's contribution to the UN peacekeeping mission and its role as a mediator in conflicts between countries — which reflect its dedication to building a more peaceful and harmonious world order.
Regarding Indonesia's Vision 2045, President Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia is aspiring to become a developed country that plays an important role in bringing world peace.
"Humanitarian Islam is a strategic choice in efforts to achieve this vision," he said.
He added that Indonesia is ready to share inspiration and best practices in maintaining diversity and nationality.
"Hopefully, this conference will encourage enthusiasm and bring great benefits to all of us, and become a strong foundation for creating a brighter and more harmonious future," he said.
The International Conference on Humanitarian Islam organized by the Nahdlatul Ulama was attended by scholars and academics from many countries.
They will continue the agenda by visiting several areas in Central Java until November 9, 2024.
