"Religious moderation prioritizes sociological aspects, namely how we interact and build good relationships with various parties," he remarked at the 2024 International Conference on Religious Moderation (ICROM) in Jakarta on Wednesday.
While addressing conference participants from several countries, Amin affirmed that religious moderation is not a mere theory but has become a daily life practice.
He cited the practice of religious moderation applied in campuses, such as at State Islamic Universities which commemorated their anniversaries by presenting religious figures to find common ground between religious teachings and the welfare of the community.
On the same occasion, Director General of Buddhist Community Guidance Supriyadi echoed the same view, highlighting the importance of religious moderation in maintaining Indonesia's diversity.
According to Supriyadi, Indonesia is a diverse country, and one important achievement is being able to maintain socio-political stability amid diversity.
He emphasized that religious values as a core element of Indonesia's social and political fabric should be maintained to ensure peace and stability.
Meanwhile, Director General of Catholic Community Guidance Suparman affirmed that the leadership of religious leaders is crucial in fostering awareness of moderation among people.
He cited as an example that the recent meeting between Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque Nasarrudin Umar reflects the key role of religious leaders in eliminating intolerance and promoting humanity and ecological values.
"The Istiqlal declaration signed by the Pope and the Grand Imam is not only a symbol but must be implemented in real life," he said.
