Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto spoke about efforts to develop artificial intelligence (AI) technology in Indonesia when holding a phone call with the CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, on Thursday.

"I want you as an important figure in our future, and I realize the tremendous influence of AI and all the possibilities that are being studied," Prabowo told Huang on the sidelines of the Indonesia AI Day in Jakarta.

In response, Huang emphasized the importance of utilizing AI technology in Indonesia as a step toward the advancement of industry and society.

He also expressed his readiness to collaborate to advance AI in various sectors in the country.

"It is a great honor for me to be here and start our cooperation and partnership with your country," Huang said.

President Prabowo welcomed the strategic partnership explored by the American technology company and expressed the hope that Nvidia would become an important partner in the future of digitalization in Indonesia.

"I hope that your group, your company considers Indonesia (as a potential partner). Please consider that we all welcome you with open arms," Prabowo said.

He further underlined the need for applying AI technology in significant sectors, from agriculture to health services.

The president also expressed his desire to meet Huang in person.

"So, I hope to meet you someday. I can visit you somewhere or you can visit me somewhere," Prabowo said.

Huang concluded the conversation by emphasizing Nvidia's commitment to continue supporting Indonesia in the development of AI technology.

"Thank you, Mr. President, and thank you for the great opportunity to partner with Indonesia. You can count on Nvidia and all our friends here and all the technology companies that work with us here to help advance artificial intelligence and benefit the people of Indonesia," he added.
