Bandung (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Textile Association (API) for West Java has said that the textile technology cooperation being explored with Italy is a great opportunity to strengthen the competitiveness of the Indonesian textile industry.

"Partnership with Italy, a country that has long been a leader in textile technology, is a great opportunity for our industry," deputy chair of API - West Java, David Leonardi, said at a workshop held to promote Italy's advanced textile technology, here on Thursday.

Leonardi emphasized that the cooperation that is expected to be achieved through the workshop is a strategic step that could strengthen the competitiveness of the textile industry in West Java and its surrounding areas.

Through the cooperation, it is hoped that the Indonesian textile industry can transform and adopt more advanced technology, so that West Java can continue to be an innovative textile center and remain competitive in the global market, he added.

At the workshop organized by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) - Trade Promotion Office of the Italian Embassy, 17 Italian textile manufacturers promoted advanced textile technologies in various specializations, including finishing, dyeing, non-woven, spinning, weaving, knitting, and a textile lab.

ITA trade commissioner, Dr. Paolo Pinto, said that Italian textile technology offers digital and automation solutions that could increase efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

"Through this workshop, we hope to provide an opportunity for industry players in Indonesia to directly experience the benefits of this technology, as well as open up opportunities for beneficial business partnerships," he added.

The workshop is expected to provide comprehensive insights to textile industry players in West Java, which is known for its creativity and innovation in the fashion and textile industry.

It is also expected to be a forum for textile industry players to obtain the latest information on digitalization, the Internet of Things (IoT), and sustainable solutions in textile technology.

Such technologies can not only increase the productivity of the local textile industry but also help preserve the environment.

Besides the workshop in Bandung, West Java, on November 14, another workshop was also held in Solo, Central Java, on November 12.
