Jambi (ANTARA) - The Hok Khen Tong Temple in Talang Jauh, Jelutung, Jambi city, served as one of the polling stations (TPS) on the Regional Head Election (Pilkada) voting day on Wednesday.

Acting Mayor of Jambi, Sri Purwaningsih, during a visit to the polling station with members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), said that Hok Khen Ton Temple served as TPS 01.

The temple was one of the places that supported the successful election of governor-deputy governor and mayor-deputy mayor candidate pairs in Jambi. It served voters from three neighborhood units (RT).

Although it is not a political institution, the temple management invited the public to exercise their voting rights on Pilkada voting day.

The temple was also used as a rest area for people who needed to take a short break before voting. Drinks and snacks were also provided to voters.

Lina, a resident who cast her vote at the temple, said she hopes that the elected leaders will be fair, honest, and pay attention to the interests of all groups.

The voting process at the temple ran smoothly, safely, and in an orderly manner. TPS 01 at the temple was one of the 943 polling stations in 11 sub-districts in Jambi city.

Earlier, chairperson of the Jambi City General Election Commission (KPU), Deni Rahmat, said that the polling stations in the region were readied a few days before voting day.

"To ensure the smooth running of Pilkada, the voting organizing groups (KPPS) built polling stations a few days before," he added.

He assured that the Jambi city KPU was ready to carry out the 2024 Pilkada, both in terms of technicalities and operation. The Jambi city KPU was also optimistic about public participation on voting day.
