Bogor, West Java (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto visited a polling station (TPS) in Bogor city, West Java, during the regional head elections on Wednesday and praised its unique Halloween-themed design.

According to a statement issued by the voting organizing group (KPPS), the Halloween theme was chosen for polling station TPS 05 in RW 05, Kebon Kalapa Village, Bogor City, to increase the political participation of young people and women.

At TPS 05, some voters came in wearing Halloween-themed costumes, with some dressed as Dracula and some children dressed up as ghosts.

Inside the polling station stood an old building made of cardboard, and a black coffin was placed between the registration table and the voting booth.

"We come here and appreciate this. It is necessary to take initiative and be creative to attract people to come to the polling station. Other places had creativity as well but this one is a bit different," Sugiarto said.

Meanwhile, the head of RW (community unit) 05, Ribut Sudarsono, said that 437 voters came from three neighborhoods (RT) registered at TPS 05 Kebon Kalapa.

He informed that the KPPS team at TPS 05 did not spend much funds from the budget to decorate the polling station as they mostly used materials such as cardboard and plastic.

"The goal is to attract the voters. Alhamdulillah (Thank God), it had an impact," he remarked.

In addition, he explained, apart from members of the Bogor City Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and the deputy home minister, the Central Bogor sub-district head and police chief also visited and promoted the polling station.

"We prepared this since Sunday. We were also assisted by the Kebon Kalapa village head," Sudarsono said.
