"The President has instructed Statistics Indonesia to validate all data from ministries, institutions, and local governments, which will subsequently be consolidated into one dataset, including data on people with disabilities," Yusuf said during the commemoration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Jakarta on Sunday.
Yusuf emphasized the significance of managing an accurate database to ensure that social assistance programs, including those focused on empowering people with disabilities, are more targeted and effective.
According to him, President Prabowo Subianto's special attention to the importance of accurate data provides the foundation for policymaking at the Ministry of Social Affairs.
With the one data program, Yusuf anticipates that government programs can be tailored to real-world needs.
The data will guide the design of more targeted interventions, particularly in three crucial areas: access to health, education, and employment.
He further emphasized that Law Number 8 of 2016 concerning Persons with Disabilities mandates government agencies and State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) to recruit at least 2 percent of their employees from persons with disabilities, while the private sector is required to hire at least 1 percent.
Yusuf announced that the Ministry of Social Affairs will also initiate a program to provide job opportunities for people with disabilities.
