Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) Ministry reiterated its commitment to fast-tracking digital transformation to bring the nation closer to its awaited golden era by 2045.

Speaking at the Next Billion Ecosystem (Nex-BE) Festival in Jakarta on Thursday, Komdigi Deputy Minister Nezar Patria observed that digital transformation offers Indonesia a promise of a significant boost to its national economy.

"It is clear that digital transformation acts as an enabler, the main catalyst. Thus, we need to be able to fully capitalize (on) the digital economy sector," he pointed out.

Patria highlighted that Indonesia has set an ambitious target of shooting up its gross domestic product per capita to US$15,700 by 2038, paving the way to becoming a high-income country by 2045.

In this regard, he emphasized the need for Indonesia to formulate and implement policies and regulations supporting its digital transformation and growth of its digital economy, especially for the next five years.

The deputy minister noted that the gross merchandise value of Indonesia's digital economy is projected at US$90 billion in 2024 and is expected to hit US$360 billion by 2030.
