Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Acceleration of Poverty Alleviation Agency (BP Taskin), Budiman Sujatmiko, on Friday informed that the government is studying Brazil and China's successful poverty eradication measures so that they can be incorporated into national policies.

The government attributes the two countries' success in reducing poverty rates to two main factors, namely the use of integrated single data and solid coordination between government institutions, he said.

"Reflecting on the experience of the two countries that President Prabowo Subianto has just visited, namely China and Brazil, these two are considered successful in eradicating poverty," he informed after a coordination meeting in Jakarta on Friday.

He outlined two methods adopted by each country to reduce poverty rates.

In Brazil, poverty alleviation tends to rely on social protection in the form of direct cash transfers (BLT) and social assistance, which provides direct support to the poor.

Meanwhile, China focuses more on economic empowerment and people's development through programs that encourage local economic growth.

Although the two countries have different approaches, Sujatmiko emphasized that their success in poverty alleviation lies in one common measure, namely the use of integrated data and synergy between various institutions from the central to district/city levels.

"Their approaches to poverty alleviation are different but supported by the same method, namely data integration," he pointed out.

As a follow-up to Prabowo's visit to the two countries, Indonesia will continue to strengthen data integration and synchronization between institutions to ensure effective poverty alleviation programs.

"We have learned from Brazil and China on the importance of integrated data management and integration between institutions to accelerate poverty alleviation in Indonesia," he noted.

The government is hoping that with these steps, poverty in Indonesia can be reduced significantly in a shorter time.

Sujatmiko assured that the Single Data that is currently being collected and processed by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) will be ready this year.

According to him, the Single Data integrates all community data, from the extremely poor, the poor, to the vulnerable poor, as a reference for providing social assistance and empowerment programs from the government.
