"Maybe there are only three countries in the world that will be 100 percent self-sufficient in energy in the near future, namely Brazil, Congo, and Indonesia," he remarked at the submission event of the 2025 Budget Implementation List (DIPA) and Transfer to Regions Allocation List (TKD) here on Tuesday.
At the State Palace, also with the launch of the E-catalog, President Prabowo stated that the three countries can achieve self-sufficiency in energy due to the plant resources that can be utilized as renewable energy sources.
Prabowo explained that Indonesia will achieve energy self-sufficiency by utilizing plant resources, such as palm oil, a renewable energy fuel.
According to the president, Indonesia must utilize these natural resources optimally, considering that energy self-sufficiency is the government's priority in anticipating global uncertainty.
The head of state remarked that the government also carries out strategies to achieve food security in addition to energy self-sufficiency.
"I reiterate that we must implement energy and food self-sufficiency," he stated.
As earlier reported, the government is currently implementing the B35 program, a new policy mandating that fuel compositions consist of 35 percent biodiesel blended with 65 percent diesel fuel.
The biodiesel comes from vegetable oils, such as palm oil, mixed with diesel to produce more environmentally-friendly fuels.
The government not only focuses on utilizing biofuels to achieve energy self-sufficiency but also on boosting the development of new and renewable energy (NRE), accelerating the use of electric vehicles, and improving energy efficiency.
